How do I show Twitch chat on my stream in OBS?

Enter your Twitch channel, pick a chat bubble style and how many messages to show, and get one link to add as a Browser Source in OBS. The background is transparent, so it sits cleanly over your scene.

Showing chat on screen lets viewers watching full-screen or catching the VOD later follow the conversation alongside the stream. This OBS chat overlay connects to your channel's live Twitch chat and renders each message as a bubble on a transparent background, so you can place it over gameplay or your camera without covering anything. Setup takes about a minute, and the link updates as you change the options, so you can copy it as soon as it looks right.

There are three settings: your Twitch channel name, one bubble style applied to every message, and the maximum number of messages on screen (1 to 50, default 12). When new messages push past that limit, the oldest ones fade out. If you leave the style on default, each chatter's name shows in their own Twitch name colour.

It's free and doesn't require an account. It works with any public Twitch channel, reads chat anonymously so there's nothing to authorize, and reconnects on its own if the connection drops. Because it's just a web page, the same link works in Streamlabs and any other software that supports a Browser Source.

How to use

  3. Copy the generated link
  4. In OBS, go to Sources, click +, and choose Browser
  5. Paste the link into the URL field, set the width and height for your scene, and click OK
